\"\"Who are we?<\/p>\n

Since it first opened in September 1970, Sligo campus of the ATU has been one of Ireland\u2019s leading third level institutions. Its location is ideal as its located in the West of Ireland outside the town of Sligo. Students are at the heart of what we do. It is home to 6,000 students across the Institute\u2019s full-time, part-time and apprenticeship programmes. Of those, over 2,000 are studying online.<\/p>\n

At Sligo campus of the ATU, you\u2019ll get to know your lecturers, as well as your classmates. Apart from being Ireland\u2019s recognised No 1 destination for Digital (Online) Education<\/strong>, Sligo campus of the ATU has produced internationally recognised ground-breaking research in Science<\/a> and Archaeology<\/a> over the last 12 months.<\/p>\n

Sligo campus of the ATU is the place to help you get ahead in the world of work with an industry placement. It has a long track record of successful management and on-time delivery of major national and EU research and innovation programmes, because of our close contacts and research collaborations with leading companies and major employers both on a National and International scale.<\/p>\n

Sligo campus of the ATU is also a fiercely ambitious third level institution. Working towards re-designation as a Technological University<\/a>, a \u20ac60 million investment in campus\u00a0facilities over the last decade has created a stunning 21st century learning environment and is spread over 72 acres.<\/p>\n

Across its three Schools of Learning in Business & Social Sciences; Engineering & Design; and Science, Sligo campus of the ATU is constantly developing and enhancing its courses and facilities to provide an overall package which matches the needs of the student.<\/p>\n

Why we are Participating in the Project<\/b><\/h2>\n

Sligo campus of the ATU has a particular remit to bring its expertise and other resources to bear in promoting research capacity enhancement and the translation of the research outputs in improving the instruction of students. The institute thrives to make a move from being a primary teaching higher institution to looking at active mechanisms aimed at increasing the involvement of current and future academics staff in carrying out research. The research department of Sligo campus of the ATUwill contribute competencies in this area to the RECAPHE project.<\/p>\n

Our Role in the Project<\/b><\/h2>\n

One of the major objectives of Sligo campus of the ATU is regional development and regional sustainability. These strategies enable to ensure the effective translation and exploitation of research carried out in the institute into tangible collaborations with industry and regional partners will be drawn from the RECAPHE project. This will enable the institute to ensure researchers in education & training both locally and in Europe will be able to make significant use of the overview of RDI activities in PHE which will further promote and enhance Sligo campus of the ATU to be a major contributor to regional innovation.<\/p>\n

As Sligo campus of the ATU is a member of the ongoing CREST\/ Renewable Engine project Partnership, expertise in its Contract Research Unit (CRU) will be used to meet similar goals of this project. Sligo campus of the ATU will lead the IO2 out-put and we intend to ensure and drive collaboration with stakeholders from participating countries and promote Research opportunities to our academics locally that are available within Europe.<\/p>\n
