Our Approach to Supporting Inclusive Student Engagement in Vocational Education & Training
If a VET institution wants to be truly inclusive for its diverse range of students, it’s not enough to only concentrate on its teaching and curricula. It should also look into the wider areas of students engagement, related to student activism, student involvement in decision making bodies but also to student organisations themselves.
All of these areas of extra-curricular student engagement areas are generally much less diverse than the overall student population in a VET institution and much more difficult to get into for students from non-traditional backgrounds and underrepresented groups.
InclusiVET will explore the engagement of students from diverse backgrounds in the life of their institutions. The project aims to improve policies, mechanisms and practices for inclusive engagement of all students regardless of their background and circumstances – to engage students in all aspects of their teaching & learning journey, quality assurance & institutional decision making, within the life of the VET institution and student life in the wider sense and also enabling them to fully embrace the democratic values of education in their interactions with wider society.
